First, the wood is sorted into categories and stacked neatly. When classifying, it should be based on the type of wood, new and old materials, but also refer to the length, diameter, size, and advantages and disadvantages of the wood. The advantage is that when selecting materials, the desired size of wood can be found very quickly and without hassle. Secondly, the size of the material, such as thickness, length, width, are determined according to the furniture design drawings.

In addition to mastering the operating technology of the machine, the cutting master must also adhere to two basic principles, that is, "long materials cannot be sawed short, and wide materials cannot be sawed narrow". That is to say, in non-special cases, the cutting material is only sawed from the thickness of the wood. In some factories with strict requirements, it is a very serious mistake to saw long materials for short and wide materials for narrow saws. There is also a noteworthy aspect of cutting material, that is, after a piece of wood is sawn into a board, it must be restored to the original level of the wood, stacking and packaging, and the order cannot be disordered.

In particular, when the top cabinet door panels, desks and chair panels are used, it is important to pay attention to single panels or panels made of the same wood. It is required to have the same color and pattern, and the panels after cutting must be stacked as they are. Finally, the selection of materials should also be ordered and prioritized. Before the board is used for drawing, sawing and planing, it is necessary to follow the furniture design drawings, from good material to inferior material, from long material to short material, from wide material to narrow material.

After ensuring the required material, length, and width of the furniture, we will finally match the short material, narrow material, and secondary material. For example, for a throne sofa of rosewood, the headrest, backboard, face board, and armrest board must be considered first when selecting materials, followed by legs, waistbands, and various shorts. After the material is prepared, it is necessary to keep enough material for drawing, sawing, and planing, and it is better to be long than short, and make full use of the board.
